QA/Software Tester

Parttime (8-12h), Hybrid (Utrecht, NL)

Help us catch bugs before our players do 🪲
You spot the things others miss. As our QA tester, you make sure Horse Reality runs smoothly before updates go live. You’ll test new features, document how things work, and keep track of player-reported issues from our bug forum and beta testers: verifying if it’s truly a bug (and not a feature 😉).

If you’re a curious student or part-timer who enjoys finding even the tiniest mistakes and know your way around browser tools, this might be the perfect role for you.

This is what you’ll do

Your workload will vary throughout the year. Quiet at times, but busier before big releases, so flexibility in work hours helps.

  • 🧩 Test new features and fixes: Go through updates before release and report any bugs you find in Jira.

  • 🪲 Monitor bug reports: Keep an eye on our bug forum and beta-testing feedback. Verify issues and log them clearly for the engineers.

  • 💬 Communicate with players: Let testers and players know when issues have been fixed, or ask for more information.

  • 🧠 Document your findings: Write clear test guides and document which browsers, devices, and platforms need testing.

  • 🧰 Use the right tools: Work with browser/dev tools (Inspect Element, Console, Figma, Jira) to describe problems precisely.

  • 🤝 Collaborate: Work with our entire team to make sure releases go smoothly.

You’re the one we’re looking for if...

  • You live in the Netherlands and can visit our office in Utrecht occassionally.

  • You have a good eye for detail and enjoy spotting things that don’t look quite right.

  • You can communicate clearly in English, both in writing and speaking.

  • You can work independently and proactively in a setting with plenty of freedom.

  • You’re comfortable with basic technical tools, like browser inspection, screenshots, and version notes.

  • You’re organised and don’t mind writing documentation.

  • You have the right to work in the EU 🇪🇺 (this is a requirement, not a request).

Even better if you also...

  • Have experience with QA testing or bug tracking tools.

  • Study or have experience in game development, IT, design, or communication.

  • Enjoy simulation or management games (bonus points if you love horses 🐴).

  • Speak a bit of Dutch.

What’s In It For You?

This is a great entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the games industry while studying or working part-time. You’ll learn about testing workflows, communication with developers, and how updates move from idea to live release.

  • 8-12 hours per week: Work around your study schedule. Some weeks are quiet, others a bit busier.

  • 💶 Salary: € 15-18 per hour (gross) depending on experience & age.

  • 🏖️ Time off: Pro rata of 25 vacation days (fulltime) + 2 week paid Christmas company closure.

  • 💻 Extras: Company laptop, €500 work from home budget, and a personal development budget based on your hours (full-time = 32h/week = €1,000/year).

  • 🚆 Commute covered: 100% public transport reimbursement or a free parking spot at the office.

  • 🏢 Flexible/Hybrid work: Work from home or our cosy office — your choice (office dog included 🐶).

  • 🌱 Supportive team: You’ll work alongside our entire team which values good communication and clear feedback.

  • 💭 Your needs matter: Consider these benefits a baseline. Tell us what helps you thrive, and we’ll see what’s possible.

Please note that we do not offer relocation or visa support. If you need either of these, please don’t apply — it’s truly a waste of both our time.
