2D Art Intern
Internship, Sept 2025, On-site in Utrecht (NL)
We’re looking for a 2D Art Intern with a passion for animals, creativity, and an eye for detail to support our horse-focused browser game! Our studio develops Horse Reality, a unique, realism-based game centered around horse art and genetics. You’ll have a chance to play an important role in expanding the game’s visual world through horse sketches and colours, background art, UI elements, or event illustrations. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a niche genre with a dedicated and passionate player base.
About Us
Studio Deloryan is the game studio that created the browser management game: Horse Reality. Currently, the game has 8k+ daily and 22k+ monthly active players. Built from scratch, our game is played directly in the browser and visually has to look good on multiple devices. We value a culture of autonomy, collaboration and continuous improvement, always keeping our KPIs and player experience in focus.
What You’ll Learn & Do
You’ll join our art team and work on tasks that match your skill level, gradually increasing in complexity.
Examples of what you might do:
● Create 2D game assets including milestone icons and event illustrations
● Prepare background ideas in form of thumbnails
● Work with existing art styles and adapt your art accordingly
● Create horse sketches to be developed further
● Create various horse coats while learning about their genetics
● Collaborate with other team members to bring your concepts to life
● Prepare assets for integration (naming, exporting, organising)
You’ll be mentored by our Art Director who will guide you, help you grow your skills, and involve you in our development process. Perfect for students who wish to gain real-world experience in the games industry.
Requirements
✔️ A portfolio that demonstrates solid fundamentals
✔️ Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
✔️ Ability to adapt to various art styles
✔️ Fluent in English and based in the Netherlands
✔️ Proactive and hands-on mindset
✔️ A strong sense of organisation and attention to detail
Bonus Points
✨ Interest in games, visual storytelling, or world-building
✨ Interest in horses and real life genetics
✨ 3D software experience (for example Blender)
✨ Likes drawing animals
✨ Likes to think about the user experience and UI
✨ Dutch speaking
